Aflatoxin M1: biological decontamination methods in milk and cheese

Dairy cattle when fed on aflatoxin B1 may excrete M1 in milk as a consequence of dietary exposure. Once AFM1 is excreted milk, it present dairy products such cheese, yogurt, among others. This mycotoxin quite resistant to temperature therefore heat treatments like pasteurization and ultra-pasteurization are not enough inactivate it. In this context, article provides an overview the biological decontamination methods cheese last decade, contribution evaluate evolution strategy well its efficiency according their authors. Relevant studies published between January 2009 May 2019 were selected after systematic search literature PubMed, Science direct Google Scholar databases. According with our research decade few have been these unfortunately none tested cheese. Throughout many found, however, phosphate buffered saline solution or culture medium. Further mainly necessary for technique be better developed applied large scale industries.
